  • I have one it is a diesel front wheel assist. A very pretty tractor that I am hoping to restore some day. When we got it it needed a clutch so we split it in half but the plates inside were frozen on and when we did get it apart we bent the plates. So it sat in two pieces until we found parts it sat like that for one year but when we got the parts and put her back together she pulls like there is no tomorrow.

  • I was told that Massy Ferguson had a fire and burned a plant down. So they worked out some kind of agreement for Minneapolis Moline to build the Massey Ferguson 97 while they built there plant back and the Massey Ferguson 97 was a Minneapolis Moline 705 with Massey Ferguson Sheet metal and paint. Has anybody else know any thing about this.

  • Hello, very interesting issues on the massey"s.I have 2 massey 97"s one that does run excellant and has a minnitoba cab on it.i parked it about 3 years ago and put a battery in it this past summer, give it a shot of ether and it fired right up.I thinkthese were famous for having to use a little sniff of ether.any ways i would like to sell it if any one is interested as all it needs is tires,as the ones on it are in pretty rough shape other than that the tin and the rest of the unit are good.i would include the other 97 with it.it was running when parked about 10 years ago.any ways this is a excellant site.thankyou and enjoy your MASSEY"S

  • I bought a 97MASSEY FERGUSON from an old boy in Dumont Ia. back in April of 2003.I went to the sale for this tractor. It cost 1800.00 bucks. The tractor was made by the Minneapolis Moline company, and has a 504 ci.diesel engine made by M.M..It is a 1963 model and does not have the optional front wheel assist . I wanted the tractor for pulling. It weights 8250 stripped down and has 100 hp. If you get the weight on the tractor right the tractor will take care of its self! I have 4 2nd place trophys and 9 1st place trophys. Would of mayby had more but i put the weight in the wrong place . Amagin that. I love this tractor and have had the heavy looking frontend 2 to 3 foot off of the ground. What a rush! They pull good and have an honest 100hp. The only thing i would not recommend with this tractor is backing a wagon up over about 10 ft,you cant get ahead of the wagon.this winter i am going to have the tractor painted and will put the pics. in this column when i am done.
