It will then crank nicely and run for another two minutes. Replaced coil, points, plugs, etc., to no avail. HELP!!!

Originally had a belly-mount C-4 but now pulls a 6-foot Bushhog, and pushes a 6-foot Meyer snow plow in winter. Runs great--and only one pair of hands has ever put a wrench to her.

I have a horse and there is a Farmall 140 tractor with mower deck for sale on the way to my horse. I'm tired of looking at it and think it needs a good home! The only thing that was legible are the numbers 44232J--what are these numbers and what do they mean? The people who own this tractor are asking $3,500. for it but it looks like it's seen better days! Can anyone tell me if this is a fair price, or if it's over priced; is there a Kelly Blue Book for tractors? I'd like to have it to mow pastures.... But it looks like a candidate for restoration. ;)

Cub yellow is not correct, you must use Federal Highway Yellow. Mine has the complete one-point hitch. I would like to find a blade for the tractor to use around the church parking lot. I live in North Central Kansas. Any help out there for a rear mount, one point blade? Thanks.
Arnold E wrote on Wednesday, July 20, 2005 (PDT):Just bought a small spead and was looking at a F140 1957 model red and it has a fast hitch 1 point with a added anti sway bar it comes with a back blade, cultivators,brush hog 48inch and bucket. Everything works including the lights the tires are not new but all look good. The engine starts right up and sounds great the paint is fair and the sheet metal is also fair. My problem is I don't have a clue what it would be worth anyone have a thought. I want it to help getting the the pasture back in shape and clear out some over growth. I think it's a 28 HP Help is needed in making the offer.

I think they call them tins. I have one and the other one is planted in the fields on the farm. I would like to restore it as it was the day it came new to our farm. James Coombs wrote on Tuesday, November 30, 2004 (PST):my father owned a 100 then a 140 same as pictured we used a one row trans planter with one point hitch water tank mounted on the front where the one row cultivator and the sickle mower we had mounted. had a two row corn or soy bean planter this was originaly used on the A farmal the fertilizer atachment mounted lon the sickle mower bracket. I converted the rear section to a one point hitch. I also custom built a Plastic mulch layer that i used behind the one forty .we had rear wheel weights rear wheels could be turned around and the front widened for planting corn or laying wider mulch . cultijvated a lot of tobaco and garden vegetables.

The implements are belly mounted sickle bar mower; disk harrow; one bottom plow; two row cultivators; two row planter; front mounted blade; utility carrier; woods belly mower. The specs. say it is in the 23HP range. It is one tough tractor, we once spun both rear tire beads plowing new ground. If any one would like to ask me any questions please feel free. I am no expert but can answer most of the questions that have been asked here. We also own a Super A1, and a 200. Thank you Howard. Pulls a New Holland 68 Baler (with Motor) easily. Burnt up the wiring while charging the battery. (Don't know how it happened) Bought a 2-point (?) hitch years ago, still have the parts, lost the installation directions. If I had a loader for it, I'd never need another tractor.
Don Fender wrote on Sunday, July 11, 2004 (PDT):Hey'My dad has a 140 and he is having trouble with it building oil in the crank case.I'm trying to find a web sight with a diagrahm of all of the gaskets and where they go.I believe that where the hydraulic pump bolts to the block, the gasket is leaking.Thinking that hydraulic oil is leaking into the crankcase.Also I'm probably going to help him rebuild the motor.The tractor is A 140 farmall as you already know,The model # is 57779 HC and is a 1975.I need someone to please help me find these parts or web sites. It has a foot throttle, heavy duty,adjustable front end and the insignia says International 130, not Farmall. It was built in June of 1957. My tractor came with a sickle bar mower. Paid $700. Im new to these tractors and have a couple questions, that I hope someone may be able to answer? The tractor is in need of paint, has good sheetmetal, new tires. It runs and drives great but needs brakes. I can do those myself. But,when letting the clutch out slow to move, the tractor lurches hard like its grabbing. Does this mean the clutch is bad? And, when driving it, there is noise from the gearbox. Almost like it the thrust bearing could be bad on the gear clusters. Can anyone help me with these questions, and let me know if the going price is too high for what is wrong with it. Thanks ahead of time!! Todd H. (southern IL)

Jamie wrote on Saturday, December 18, 1999 (PST):Steve - The 140s do not have power steering, at least not though my year, 1963. They do have hydraulics and came with a fast hitch. I have converted to 3pt hitch, as implements are easier to find. They are an evolution from the A, Super A, and 100, 120, 130 models made earlier. It is the same basic tractor, but has hydraulics.

Surprising in that you see alot of H's and M's still hard at workin the fields west of Phoenix. Does anyone know of any salvage yards within a couple of hundred miles of Phoenix?
