The tractor pictured was built in 1949. Early versions of this model came with a C-113 engine, later versions came with a C-123 engine. Some of the special features available for it were the fast hitch, touch control, adjustable front axle and various deluxe seat combinations. |

The differences are as follows. 1 The super C can be identified by several things. 2 four rock shafts on the touch control rather than three. 3 Disc brakes, instead of band brakes. The clutch and brake pedals are different. 4 the 123 engine has a small wedge cast into the block directly below and between the carb, and oil pan 5 The clutch plate inspection hole is a different shape 6 The grille, radiator, and gas tank support is taller on the super c 7 the steering wheel is larger 8 Super C s has a touch control temprature gauge

Ronnie Lee wrote on Friday, April 11, 2008 (PDT):My Mother recently passed away and I now have the opportunity to sell the tractors. She had a C and a Super C and also an F-12 or F-20. I m not sure until I locate the serial # because I understand that this is how I can tell. The C is in working order because I recently used it to haul wood that I cut for her wood stove. The Super C had the cap knocked off and probably took water in. There is also the bars and some equipment that fits them. I need a reliable buyer for these but am not out to rip anyone off. If interested I live in Sedalia Missouri and if you call, I can call you back because I have unlimited calling so we can discus these and where to find the serial numbers and then I can send digital photos. Earl Taylor wrote on Sunday, February 17, 2008 (PST):I had the pleasure to work for a farmer who started out with a brand new 1952 Super C on his farm. I was just a kid when I started working for him. It had all the implements you could probably get for it, except one that I noticed on a personal web site by Ellsworth Chase and that was the fast hitch disk. We had the same stuff for ours that he has shown except the two-row cultivator set, front and rear. The rear of course was the fast hitch. We did not have an umbrella mount for ours, or the shutters on the grille. But boy looking at the Super C brings back memories. I was there when the farm was sold, the tractor was the last to go. I visited my old boss and when I drove up to his new home where he retired, in the front yard is a two row corn planter in the flower bed from the Super C he kept from the farm. Eric Larson wrote on Friday, November 09, 2007 (PST):Jake, I work in the paper industry and the maintenance department has over the years recommended using Aero-Kroil for unsticking anything. This is a product you can buy at most local hardware stores for around 5.00. This oil will penetrate into areas 1/1,000,000th of and inch. I have used it on frozen head bolt studs when nothing else would budge them. I sprayed this on and let it sit for a half hour and the frozen stud came out with ease. Try it you ll like the results.

Jack Sober wrote on Sunday, March 11, 2007 (PST): I receved my 1951 super c as a gift in 2000. unknowing it had two smashed and beetend pistons.It did not run,so I found a macanic and started to open the can of warms that hapens when you take on this type of prodject.I baut a comeplet engine block,genarater/alternater,starter,points and condencer,distibuter,voltigragulater,battery and all the wires to the lights.After 7 years and 3 moths it is ready for work in the feild and some perades.I have one thing to say to enyone that wants to do this kind of operation you must have paionts,good advisers and most of all money to speand.
Rich wrote on Wednesday, November 08, 2006 (PST):I can't believe it. This little Farmall C Serial #351132 R-1 is sitting out by our back fence and has been for several years (in the weather). We were clearing out the back fence line today and found it. As I recall it was parked there as part of a bus deal that never happened so I guess ownership falls to me. I have no idea where this tractor started its life but right now its down and out in Utah. If anyone knows anything about this particular C let me hear from you. This abused little critter is worming its way into my heart.

Everything in the engine has been replaced with new parts. I also put in a new clutch pressure plate and throw out bearing. The tin on it is almost like new. Ididn,t repaint it. Also rebuilt the carbureator. Can anyone tell me what the selling price on this tractor would be?

He rebuit the engine and painted it a month ago and can not find decals like the ones he removed. The tractor is the cream and yellow one and the decal on the hood was a sticker about 24" long and 4" wide. The top part of the sticker was Red and said INTERNATIONAL AND THE BOTTOM SAID CUB CENTERED IN BLACK WITH FOIL LOOKING STRIPES ON EACH SIDE OF IT. How can someone judge the condition of an older tractor? How can you put a price a tractor of this calibur? Especially when it was still running in the late 70's. It has been in a shed pretty well shelter from the weather. Open for suggestions and/or ideas. We are considering selling it for reasonable price to someone wanting to restore it. Deanna wrote on Saturday, September 03, 2005 (PDT):What memories I have of the C. My Grandfather owned 4 out of our 6 tractors. One of them being the C. When my 2 brothers and I were very small it did not run and what fun we had pretending on it. Then one winter Grandpa and Dad got it running again. Grandpa put wood blocks on the clutch and breaks so my brother's feet could reach them. At age 9, he learned how to plow with that C and its 2 bottom plow in the corn field behind our house. We continued to use that tractor well into our high school years (1980's). During winter school breaks it was used to pull the home made trailer to the woods to bring back the wood that had been cut and split for our winter heat. All 3 of us learned to drive on that tractor. When my Grandfather sold the farm, all the the tractors including our beloved C were sold. How I wish I still had that tractor to teach my nephew's how to drive. To this day my best friend and I argue which tractor is better--my C or her Dad's Oliver.

He bought the tractor in the mid 50's painted red, and equippped with touch controll hydraulics and the adjustable front axle. Upon the initial washing of the tractor I found the single coat of red paint washed off as readily as the dirt, to reveal a dirty white paint job underneath. I have since learned that this was a dealership 50th anniversary demonstrator model from early 1950 and was re-painted red at the dealership before being sold. I am searching for some knowlegable people to help me learn some of the history and details of the Model C. Over the years some things have been added and changed to the tractor, so I would appreciate any information on options avaliable at this time. The tractor is presently equipped with a rolling draw bar and backwards folding seat assembly. Both of which I believe have oame off a newer model. I also need to know if there is supposed to be a spark arrestor, muffler, and what model carburator was it equipped with? I think the carburator may have been changed as well. I am also looking for a complete decal package for the tractor including; hood, model, gastank, air cleaner, breather cap, pto guard, fan blade, fender, lights, and oil filter decals in the demostrator sceme. I also understand a few parts such as the wheels, air cleaner, and possialbly the steering wheel, lights, and perhaps some other parts were still painted red, is this true? If anyone can help me with any facts, stories, information, or history about this great tractor, please e-mail me, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks. P.S Does anyone know for certain exactly what the differences between the c and the super c is in 1950?

Wally wrote on Wednesday, October 23, 2002 (PDT):The narrow front does tend to dig in a bit in wet conditions. Mine has 5x15 tires and front and that doesn't give a whole lot of tire on the ground. Going straight isn't too bad, unless it's real wet. When you turn it might really want to dig in. As far as changing the front end... that might help, but they're difficult to find. With a wide front you might be able to put a wider front tire on which would help a bit. It would also make it much safer on slopes and ditches. Tri-cycles tend to be tippy. I'm not sure exactly what you are refering to in cutters but mine has no problem with the original IH 7' sickle mower. I've often wondered if I could put some larger front wheels on front. Yours probably has three tabs welded on the rims which holds the rim to the front wheel. H's and M's as well as 141 combines and other implements had heavier rims and tires which didn't have these three tabs welded like this. It might be possible to adapt these to a 'C'. This would allow a larger tire to be used and would provide better flotation. Hope this helps.

The plow has two arms that come to points. There is a steel stop on the bottom side of the arms and a 5 to 6 inch cut out on the top side of the arms just behind the pointed end. If you know folks in the auto-body trade it can be just the cost of the paint and a little cash to the painter. I took my Farmall Super M into the local Vo-Tech school and all it cost me was the paint and a small tip to the students.(they did a good job on er') The paint is easy to come by, just get Farmall red or International Harvester red. Now for the mower, you can't go wrong with a Bush Hog rotary mower ( powered by P.T.O ). The year is unknown at this time. Hope this infomation helps you.

Harold Bryant wrote on Monday, September 10, 2001 (PDT):I think you folks can still find some old original stickers and decals at Amburgy Farm Machinery in Mt. Sterling Kentucky. But be prepared to be careful with them. The old celophane decals had to be soaked in water and then slid off the paper backing and put in exact position or they will tear very easily. It has all chains, as well as fertilizer boxes. The "seed" hoppers were originally blue with white pinstriping and a decal which is not legible...McCormick is barely readable. Can anyone tell me more about this planter....and if it is worth restoring....and if decals are still available?

I think this is a good price. Is it. The only thing I don't like about it is it does not have a wide front end. I looked around and I found someone who will put one on, but I am not sure about the plow, which is in the middle of the tractor. Will the wide front end affect the plow?

Jerry Button wrote on Tuesday, October 10, 2000 (PDT):My father purchased the Farmall C in Campbellsville, Kentucky in 1949. I was 6 years old. When it was delivered, I thought it was great. Two weeks later, while mowing pastures, dad drove the front end into a sink hole and broke the tractor in half just behind the radiator. Needless to say it was a sad day for the family. Later it was repaired and brought back home. We later moved to the city and the tractor was given to my uncle. It was used many years there after on my uncle's farm. He died a few years back and the farm was auctioned. God only knows who has it know. It was a fantastic machine that really looked great. All my other relatives had Deeres with the hand clutches. Those were the good years.

Today it is still in tip top shape and still has the original cultivator with it. The two bottom plow sits out in a fenceline somewhere. The reason why it sits there is my great-grand father almost killed himself on it that day. It is still used on a regular basis around the farm although it has become pretty obselete with all of the newer tractors around.

Wally Pfennig wrote on Monday, May 22, 2000 (PDT):I also have been looking for fenders for my 'C'. I have had no luck. I'm sure that they would be pricey if anyone would be willing to sell them. Regarding 'C' hydraulics... it is my understanding that they came standard on the 'C' and it's variants. If the tractor has two levers and the implement lift arms on the sides of the hood, it has hydraulics. There is a relatively simple modification which can be made to make the machine capable of operating an external hydraulic cylinder. The hydraulic pump on these tractors has two plugs which can be fitted with hoses and piped to a valve which can then be fitted with traditional a hydraulic coupling. My only recomendation is to be careful not to run too large of an external cylinder because the hydraulic reservoir on these machines is not very large. Some models came with another lever which operated the two-point hitch. These models may have a larger reservoir. An innovative person might be able to incorporate an auxiliary reservoir if necessary. Hope this helps, Wally

THESE OTHER TRACTORS OF OURS DO NOT START AS EASY WHEN THE TEMPERATURE IS 10 DEGREES BELOW ZERO, AND YOU JUST DON'T HAVE TO WORRY AS MUCH ABOUT HOW CLOSE YOU ARE TO A BUILDING BEAM WHEN WORKING INSIDE, BECAUSE YOU ARE UP HIGH ENOUGH TO SEE EVERYTHING AROUND THE TRACTOR. Andy Pridham wrote on Friday, April 21, 2000 (PDT):I have a 49 and a 51 C. The 51 was my grandfathers and I have it prety much back to original. I put a C-153 combine motor in the 49. Just had to drill the crank for a pilot bearing, make and exhaust header and cut the intake to move the carb closer to the engine block for hood clearance. Great swap, now runs 41 hp and pulls much better. Anyone done this swap before. Would the original 123 cam shaft work in the 153? If so would it provide more torque? The 153 revs higher but suffers on the bottom end. Goal is to get it to the 2500 lb mofified class. Almost there. Anyone put a turbo on something like this? If so what size? I've got 16.9 X 26" on the back with custom hubs and tin rims. Any info back would be appreciated.

DEAN HLAD wrote on Wednesday, February 09, 2000 (PST):I'm restoring a 1950 Farmall C. The tire size is 12.4 x 36 (11 wide rim). Apparently the tractor was used heavily for cultivation and they put calcium in the rear tires. The problem I have is that from sitting all those years the calcium leaked and has caused severe rust around the valve stem area. I need to cut the area out and replace it with new. Wondering if anyone out there has a salvage rim they would be willing to sell an 20" chunck out of for me to "graft" in the new area. Would be willing to pay the cost and shipping. Kenney wrote on Friday, February 04, 2000 (PST):In reference to the differance between the Farmall "C" and Super "C" ; the "C" had a 113.1 Cubic inch displacement engine and Super "C" had a 122.7 Cubic inch displacement. The RPM was rated the same according to an IH referance book I own. Both "C" and Super "C" were available with Hydraulics.
Wally Pfennig wrote on Wednesday, February 02, 2000 (PST):Your white 'C' is actually considered a "demonstrator". The original "Farmall" decals were "stenciled" (the letters were individually cut) so the white between the letter on the decals would be visible. Decals from the CaseIH dealer will have a red background, but it will still look ok. The one's I've seen restored use these same decals. Decals from Surplus Tractor Parts will have a clear background and the effect will be identical when they are applied. FYI, Certain items on these "demonstrator" 'C's, such as air cleaner assembly, etc were painted red. I'm not sure which parts were red and which were white though. Also, it is possible to determine the year of your tractor from the serial#. As far as value goes, it is my observation that condition is always the greatest factor in an antiques value. I am not aware of any premium paid for "demonstrators" versus regular 'C's.
