  • I posted earlier comment about hydraulic problem. The intake filter is on the right side of transmission. Sorry for confusion. It has been 30 years since we had tractor. Hope this helps.
John Hancock wrote on Sunday, April 28, 2013 (PDT):
  • I noticed several comments about hydraulics not working. There is an intake oil screen that plugs easily on tractor we used to have. It is located on top of transmission on left side and has a cap with 4 nuts holding it. The screen is a long plastic tube with fine mesh.Pull it out. Soak in gas and blow out gently.Reinstall and see if that helps. I had to do that on a regular basis.

I also got an AC tagalong bushmower with it.My tractor runs great. The 3point hitch is a little jumpy when overloaded.I use it for plowing snow and I grow strawberries.I love driving it more than my other tractors because it steers so easy and I can see good because of the height.I've replaced the starter, alternater, battery, hydralic pump, tierod ends and repacked the lift cylinders.I painted it last year.It only has 3500 hours on it.The gages all work, the tractor looks like new.I also have the service manual and parts manual for it.My brakes still work, but I would say they are one of the weak points of the tractor.I'd sell her for 10,000 Canadian.

  • I just ran across a 1970 one-owner 160 in excellent condition. It has been shedded. I have the original owners manual, all the service records and everything since 1970. Needs paint, but everything else is awesome 3050 hours. I am asking $5500 for is as is in its unrestored state. This is a one of a kind!

  • Hi, I've only had my 160 since Aug 99. The brakes were bad, I've heard the 160's are prone to brake problems. The tie rod ends were worn out and I had to custom make new ones. I replaced the seals on the lower lift arms (big job!). Some parts are very tough to locate. Now for the good stuff; power steering! live pto! live hyd! heavy tractor with tires loaded. The Perkins engine has a good reputation for reliability and good cold starts. So far my 160 has been pretty good, it was restored by the previous owner a few years ago. Good Luck!
