Both worked upto 1976 at my orchards upto my full satisfaction. Due to non availabilty of spare parts,tractors were disposed off as scrap material some time in 1990. Few implements of 1947 including one Mold Bold Plough, spelling may be incorrect are still with me. Those implements if have any value as an antique, the same can be collected.

Jack Jory wrote on Thursday, June 26, 2003 (PDT):I drove my Unkle's 1939 AO during several Summers in Siverton, Oregon in the late 1940s. He had a hop yard and walnut orchard. He had the tractor rebuilt at the dealer in Monitor, Oregon sometime in the late 1940's. It was a real work horse. We use to start in on gasoline after opening the petcocks on each cylinger. Once started, we would then switch over to stove oil or kerosine. It didn't look exactly like the tractor in the picture, the fenders looked different. I can remember having to stand on the wheel foot breaks when trying to turn sharply to the left or right. It could be hard to start on cold morinings. It was a flywheel start tractor. I can remember to this day the amount of muscle it took to get the fly wheel going fast enough to make it start. It was a real thrill for a young high school kid to drive it while plowing, disking or harrowing.
Larry Stewart wrote on Thursday, February 06, 2003 (PST):my father has a john deere that he identifies as a 1936 AO i know it is a multi fuel and that he ahnd my grandfather restored it almost 40 years ago. i grew up riding on it as it plowed, cut hay and bailed alfalfa every year. it sit at our ranch now and every once in a while we will fire it up just for kicks. it still runs great and could go back to work any time.

A couple of years ago I purchased a fiberglass grill that did not work, I also have bat-wings that I don't think I will be able to mount because they will have to be twisted as they are put on to make the correct shape. However, the ID tag states only Model A but the serial number refers to all AO parts in the book. Do we have a true AO or some kind of hybrid? The fenders have been scabbed back together after some branch blight as some point in time but the hood has the protector shield over the fillers. True AO or what?

Willie Young (Western Australia) wrote on Sunday, July 16, 2000 (PDT):Wehad a model A and a model AN when I was a young fella in Scotland.When we sold up to emigrate to WA one was 21 and the other was 22.and still going strong. Now I am trying to get one similar to restore but that type of configuration did not seem to be used in this State. I think I may be on the trail of one in South Australia. I have recently completed restoring a 1948 Fordson Major E27N. They were made in England from 1945 to 1952 after production of the old Fordsons ceased at the end of the war. I often wonder how many US made tractors lie at the botton of the Atlantic still entombed in the many allied ships torpedoed during WW2. Knowing the way these old beasts were made they`d probably fire up after a couple of pulls on the flywheel even down there. Eh? Regards to you all.

Roger Roberts wrote on Wednesday, November 03, 1999 (PST):This tractor is an AOS and not really an AO the serial number on this tractor runs from 1000-184?. I own two of these and the one pictured does not have the correct front rims. The were solid in nature and no slits. The slit rims came after the AOS was dropped from production in 1941.

It had the side exhaust and the air cleaner didn't have a stack but the sheet metal was all AR so was this an intentional hybrid? It was a 1952. In 1953 they looked the same but were designated 60 O.
