Dan Kauffman wrote on Wednesday, June 08, 2005 (PDT):It's interesting to read some of the questions posed by some of the writers. With so many sources of info and history on the internet regarding the Waterloo Boy, its conception and outgrowth, one could spend the day researching these interesting subjects - and all of the Deere history - and answer their own questions. Like power. . .12 HP at the drawbar, 25 at the belt of the F; the R with one fwd speed & rev; the N with two fwd at 2 and 2.6 mph plus rev; etc. What does an R look like? ERTL makes precision classic models which could answer those questions. Models can be found on E-bay under Farm Toys. Do I get any change back from my 2c?

w.thomson wrote on Thursday, June 10, 2004 (PDT):The Waterloo Boy was the product of a stationary gas engine company in Iowa called the Waterloo Gasoline Engine Company, an outgrowth of Froelich's manufacturing of a tractor in Iowa. WGE Co was bought in 1918 by John Deere for 2.1 million, when they realized they'd better get into the gas tractor business.
