  • I just bought a GVI diesel, the batteries are missing, judging from the cables it seems there were two batteries on the right and one on the left, is that correct and are they 6 or 12 volt thanks Lyle..

  • These tractors are more commonly called a G704 GVI with front wheel assist . Had a neighbor that had a GVI and a G706. What a monster....but in a good way.

  • I have a 1962 model GIV moline,My dad bought the tractor in 1978 from a auction out in western Okla. We used it for our main tillage tractor till 1984, when we replaced it with a larger tractor. Machine still runs good and looks pretty good for original paint and all, tach shows around 3,000 hours. With a little atention it could be a full timer again. I learned how to drive that tractor when I was nine years old, I'm now thirtyseven. Prairie Gold Forever!

  • Way back in 1965 I drove a 'Minny' GVI diesel for a construction company one summer. I put quite a few hours on it while pulling an industrial (construction) Rome disc. I still have many fond memories of its' pulling power and ability to walk over very uneven torn up ground on the construction site(rear wheel powered only). I also attended the U of Nebr from 1959-1965 and could watch all the current tractors being tested there. If memory serves me corectly they got the power for the powered front end models from the belly mounted pto..

  • we never did have as fine a tractor as the MM GVI, however, i did drive a 1948 MM "U", it could outpull the super "M" farmall and would just leave the farmall when it came to plowing with 3-16's. I always thought the MM tractor company really knew how to put a tractor engine togeather, large cubes, long stroke, and low RPM. that always seemed to make sense for hard working engines where lots of torque was required. I like all MM tractors and collect the literature and toys. living in town i don't own a tractor right now, maybe someday.

  • Just a question, what is the difference between the GVI and M5 tractors that have maroon decals as opposed to those that have black decals? This has been a source of interest to me for a while now.

  • I have a GVI and would like to know what it is worth. Because they used for pulling the packing machine after the road was tared. It's a 6-cylinder deisel.

  • I have a MM GVI diesel, it is the smoothest tractor Ive ever driven. We use it with a crosscut disc and grain drill and field cultivator. My only complaint is its large turning circle. We overhauled it once.

  • I was about 15 years old when my uncle bought a G VI diesel and I drove it to his ranch, I thought it was the biggest tractor I'd seen in my life. Know I am 47 and I own one myself. We used the tractor for plowing wheat lands. We probably over hauled three times so that tells you how many hours we put on the moline tractor.

  • I have a MM GIVLP that i bought from welters equipment in 1983. We pull it from 6500-14,000lbs in the no blower classes. We do not pull it any more because the other tractors can not bet it. So they outlawed it in the Midwest

It came out between 1958 -1961 when it was replaced by the Massey Ferguson model 97.The Massey 95 was really a MM GVI with a 425 cid eng. and about 74hp on pto.The 97 was a MM G705 with a 504 cid eng. putting out 101hp pto and the Massey tin/paint of cource.
