John Deere Pushrod Tube Special Tools - Special Tools

This is a picture of the special tools used to replace the pushrod tubes on John Deere two- cylinder tractors. Upper left is the driver/swaging tool. The skinny end is put in the pushrod tube and you hammer on the tapered end to drive in the new tube. Then you reverse the tool and use the tapered end to swage the end tight in the head.

The other parts are used to remove the tube with the head still installed on the tractor. The pilot of the threaded part screws into the tube, the middle part is a hollow tube placed over the threaded rod, and then the nut and thrust washer to pull the tube out of the head. At least that is the idea.

Guys and gals, be sure to check those new pushrod tubes, I heard once that one end is larger than the other. Makes sense to me and if that is true, then you have to remove and install them from the proper side of the head.
