Here's another shot of Tractor from the front. The hardest part of restoration! Grandpa and family are from Vermont and tarctor had bucket loader on front. Tractor mainly used for snow removal and main chore was puttin' up firewood since that was sole source of heat! Can't remember but I think My father said something like couple hundred cords a year! So you can imagine how many chunks of firewood the tractor hauled and how many ended up bouncing off of hood and front nose! Boy was that some work! Luckily they had 180 acres of land that was 90 percent wooded! Wish I could get some more of the old pictures from early to mid 1900's! Family was in to sustenance farming, raised cattle, chickens, sheep for consumption. Plus grew all their own vegetables! Spend all summer puttin' up firewood, canning fruits and veggies! Grandpa was a butcher by trade so He took care of prparing the livestock! A much harder life back then! Us kids thought we had it tough but it doesn't compare! I have a lot of respect for anyone who grew up like that! It was about survival! Tractor was a necessity for them, although, Grandpa had a team of hourse for most of the work before tractor! Just thought you guys would like to know! Thank god I got a lot of stories out of grandpa before He died! Thanks guys! Scott Submitted by Nc140mans, from NC |
