One weekend a couple of local Mennonite boys decided to go camping on Friday night. They are 'horse & buggy' Mennonites, so they took the tractor as transportation. They had a really good time and they decided to stay out Sat. night too. This meant that they'd miss church but they decided that they would stay out anyway. After missing church and already knowing they were in trouble, they began their trip home. There were at least 5 young farm lads hanging on this tractor when they began the trip down a fairly steep paved road with a sharp turn at the bottom. About halfway down, the driver decided to coast and pushed in the clutch. By the time he realized that they weren't going to make the turn at the bottom, it was too late to chicken out and go straight into our gate or stop or anything else. As the steel wheels slid sideways on the road the downhill side wheels caught a seam in the macadam. Off came the steel rims and over went the JD and it slid into the drainage ditch. All participants lived. One had to be flown and a few went by ground but all are back to farming as is the JD. Quote of the day from one of their brethren - ' When I showed up and saw this, I expected to see a couple dead ones laying around...' Submitted by Tim, from PA
