Blown Air Compressor

Lets talk about shop tool safety, drain your compressors water on a regular basis or this could be your next purchase. No one was hurt but dad felt the blast from 50ft away while driving by on tractor and my brother heard it over the skid steer while he was cleaning the barnyard,the compressor flew upside down about 10ft from where it was setting.The electric wire was still attached and that held it but the interesting thing was we had PVC pipe for air line through the shops and it did not blow apart, when the regulator stuck causing the tank to rupture, I don't mean to imply that PVC is the way to go just thought it was interesting that the tank failed first.
