1953 Case DI

I just bought this old 53 Case, I wanted a starter backhoe (read, cheap), and this was the one. My wife thought I was crazy when I told her that I was going out to look at a 1953 anything, being that we're both born in 1967, I thought that I'd be wasting my time too, but oh well. This thing looked as good, if not better than some of the 1970's backhoes I looked at, and for a third the money. It fired right up & works great, just need to fix a few of the hydraulic leaks, hoses & repack a few cylinders. My neighbor already borrowed it to bury his dog. I paid 2K. It has a Lull 4K# loader & a Sherman backhoe. I was told the backhoe came off a dead Ford tractor. No power steering, or even adjustments to seating, the wheel is right up into my gut...but I still love it. I've heard it said, there's nothing like old iron. Very true! Submitted by George C, from NJ
