Just wanted to update you guys on the rescue of 3 Challengers. I've been calling the owner every year for 15 years to try and purchase them. I didn't call last year, and this might have helped secure the deal. I went to Tx last week to get them out of the fix they were in, and found out that several of the wheels that were good 3 years ago, had been destroyed by the evergrowing elm tree, or the calcium chloride in the tires. Only thing was, my brand new chain saw quit me just as I was doing some good. Got the owner to bring his Deere to help and got them loaded just before dark. The one painted red was the 305th or 306th one built. The other two were in the 1500 range, being seperated by only 15 serial numbers. All are now in Williams, Az awaiting restoration later this year or next. All had repairable F&H sppokes, and exhaust covered. I'll post a before and after when they are done. I might, however, need some advise on restoration, for I've only done JDs, Farmalls, and a Twin City. Submitted by Jerry Pevehouse, from AZ |
