1938 A-C - Saving Used Sleeves

When working an odd-ball tractor that parts are generaly not availible it pays to do some thinking, looking and shopping. Custom made sleeves can be had for any engine, problem is they are out of the range of 'hobby' at least my hobby. Custom pistons are cheaper and stock parts also can be adapted from other engines if need be. For a model A Allis a set of sleeves and pistons will set you back over 2000 dollars. Here is the lathe setup I used to rebore my sleeves from 5.250 to 5.315 in order to utilize a different piston I found, saving many hundreds of dollars. Doesn't take much of a lathe to do this. Many retired machinists do work in their basements and rellish projects like this. Submitted by Butch , from OH
