Since the question about where to find the serial number on this tractor comes up all the time- I thought that I would post a photo; If the serial number/model plate is missing from the dashboard- you can also find the serial number stamped onto the engine block as well. The number is located on the left side of the tractor (in the direction of travel) - and is stamped into the flange where the engine block is bolted to the rear end of the tractor. Comparing the serial numbers with your data plate can be useful to see if your engine block (or your dashboard) has been replaced in the past. I have seen the format of the block numbers stamped in different ways- My 1945 SC engine is stamped SC4910988, while my 1949 SC is stamped 5315794SC. I never knew the serial number was there- as the numbers are usually under paint and dirt- A quick swipe with a small wire brush will enable you to read and record them. Hope this photo helps someone. I would like to ask that everyone add their tractors to the Case registry when they find their serial numbers! Submitted by Mike Schotte, from TX |
