New Idea #61 Stalk Shredder

Here is a late 1950's New Idea #61 two row stalk shredder. My dad had one on the farm in the mid 1980s for me to chop stalks. It was sold on the retirement auction in the mid 1990s. I bought this one from a farmer who had it in the shed with new belts, and in great condition for it's age. It also came with the rear hitch. I have never seen one with original paint and lettering on it except for the one in the brochure I have. I am going to use it for the corn picking day I host in the fall. My dad tells of the local dealer who rented these out in the 1950s and 1960s to farmers. They do a good job of chopping stalks. Submitted by Kirk Affeldt, from MN
