1955 Farmobile (F-20 & Oldsmobile)

In 1955, my dad took our old Oldsmobile and an Farmall F-20 and made a tractor out of them. F-20 rear end and the Olds 6 cyl. engine. Used the car transmission in front of the F-20 transmission. Used the steering column from an F-12. Added a governor, oil filter, cut down the old head lights and used them, cut the 0lds hood and fenders up and used for the hood. Used the Olds grill. Used all the car guages, including the clock (which didn't last very long!)and speedometer. The first time dad ground feed with the Farmobile, it bouled over so he put a smaller pully on the fan to speed it up and added a small tank for more water above the engine with hoses coming from where the heater connected. Later dad made a wide front end for it. The governor was set so it would go about 20 mph in high gear. Had fluid in the rear tires. We pulled a 3-16' Farmall plow with it. My brother wisted an axel off hauling manure one winter. Not much could stop it with both transmissions in low gear!! Submitted by Ken Koch, from IL
