The Euclid TC 12, I'm told, was actually 2 of the smaller C6 tractors side by side with the adjacent tracks removed. It was introduced in 1955 and at 365 hp was more powerful that the early CaterpillarD9's although it never achieved their popularity. As I understand it, the tractor could be steered any one of four different ways or any combination of them. As it had two engines and two power trains, one track could be put in a higher gear than the other, one engine could be revved up or one slowed down, it could be steered with the usaual clutch and brake steering system or one track could be put in forward and the other in reverse. This last gave it 'spin-turn' capability which, I'm told was a first in a production tractor. It should be noted that Peterson Tractors of San Leandro, California had produced 3 side-by-side CaterpillarD8's of very similar configuration by late 1950 using pairs of 2U series D8 tractors. Maintenance and servicing were CRUCIAL to getting a good run out of the Euclid TC 12's and many people who bought them did not get good from them because they didn't or couldn't handle this properly.
