This is a picture of the infamous 'widget' on the left brake pedal on 9N/2N ford tractors. Since the brakes are on opposite sides of the transmission, This device allows the clutch to be disengaged when the clutch pedal is half way down, and to disengage the clutch AND activate the left brake when the pedal is pushed all the way down.
