1939 9N Ford - Pre-Cleaner And Breather Cap

I got these parts with the 1939 9N tractor that I purchased. Not sure how the pre=cleaner fits on the tractor as I don't see how it could fit under the hood. Thought they were interesting and thought someone might know how they were used. The pre-cleaner is made so that a pint jar fits it. The breather cap has a screen underneath. Both are in good shape.
